Deluxe Digital Studios · Incoming Menu Quality Control Technician Moosic, Pennsylvania
June – August 2009, June – October 2008
As a full-time quality control technician at a high production DVD authoring facility I worked with standard definition, domestic and international DVD menus created in-house and by outside vendors for Fox and Paramount studios. I verified, organized and backed-up menu assets (documentation, video, audio and static files) for 3-10 titles weekly against company and client specifications. This included proof-reading both English and foreign language menus (titles consisted of 3-30+ languages), checking navigation logic and preparing all files for DVD authoring engineers. I troubleshot and resolved menu issues throughout the production process while working under tight, daily deadlines.
"Kristen's work is of the utmost quality. Her projects are precise, as she is very thorough and detail oriented. She has a wonderful easy going personality that make working with her enjoyable."
– Pat Siani Authoring Engineer, Deluxe Digital Studios
The Times-Tribune · Newsroom Graphic Artist Scranton, Pennsylvania
November 2008 – April 2009
As a full-time newsroom graphic artist at a newspaper with a circulation of 50,000 weekly and 75,000 Sundays I designed the front page for the Lifestyles section 3-6 times per week to meet tight, daily press deadlines. I created and designed infographics such as maps, charts and logos; downloaded and styled graphics from wire services; and formatted and revised copy to follow style. I assisted in organizing and judging a student art contest and exhibit shown on First Friday Scranton and collaborated with editors and other artists on special sections. I assisted in creating page re-prints for customers and mentored a graphics department intern.
"Kristen was a pleasure to work with. She always tackled projects enthusiastically, coming up with creative and aesthetic solutions. She has strong design and technical skills, as well as a contagious, positive attitude. I would highly recommend her."
– Kevin O'Neill Staff Artist, The Times-Tribune
"Kristen was an invaluable resource for the graphics department and newspaper as a whole. She routinely switched between designing full page covers for Lifestyles to working on a map or chart for a breaking news story on deadline. Calm under pressure and still quality results. Great eye for design and could produce a finished product from a blank slate in no time. She is greatly missed, and whoever hires her should consider themselves very lucky to get such a great artist and even better person."
– Bob Sanchuk Graphic Artist, The Times-Tribune
